By now, you've probably understood the fact that I am a summer girl. Warm weather, sunny skies, and driving with the windows down all bring out the best in me. Yesterday, it was once again nearly 30 degrees (Celsius that is), today it was barely 15 degrees and by the weekend we will be back to a possibility of snowflakes.
You gotta love Quebec weather. Or not.
Can you guess where I stand on that one?
Of course you can, it's a no-brainer.
What's up with all the taunting Mother Nature? Make up your mind!
And I am warning you. Don't you dare send more snow our way than the girls' trampoline can handle. Bad enough you ruined our gazebo for the 3rd or 4th time last year, that trampoline is off limits! It's the only thing that can keep the girls outdoors and active for hours. It even has the power to keep them away from the Family Channel not to mention the fact it's an absolute magnet for friends. All they have to do is bounce up and down once and wham! the neighbourhood comes running (or bouncing) along providing plenty of conflict management opportunities (wow, aren't I in a very positive state of mind tonight...).
Seriously, a trampoline is really a constant block party which means tons of fresh air and a fun cardio workout for all with the added bonus of simplified bedtimes.
So hands off the trampoline! It is desperately needed... at least until pool season starts.

I love my couch but...
Oh yeah, now I can really feel myself slowly but surely bouncing back... I have to say, I love my life! I appreciate the little things like grocery shopping, cleaning, and laundry. The fact that I can actually do them and finally keep babygirl's drawer full of clean underwear again are a good sign!
Let's face it, when mom is out of order, the whole house is out of order! There are two ways of interpreting that: one can get frustrated (which if you ask me is a viable option) or one can feel important, useful, irreplaceable... OK, I may be pushing things a little too far with irreplaceable but you know what I mean right?
Sadly, while I was flat on my back worrying about the dust bunnies rolling on the floor, I realized that the girls don't really understand how mom can be forced to physically pause. It seems that they expect me to do everything even when it is physically impossible and their increasing frustration level as the days and weeks went by proved just that. I guess it's up to me to stop doing everything for them. It's at least worth a try. From now on, new house rules. Mom is mom, not a servant. I am determined to teach the girls (especially biggirl) a thing or two when it comes to taking care of themselves even if I hope I will never, ever, be forced to spend another day on my couch again!

Feels like a full moon
I have just looked out every window of our house and although there are stars shining bright, I cannot for the life of me find the moon right now...yet, by the way the girls were acting tonight, I'm pretty sure there must be a full moon grinning (or maybe even laughing histerically)in the sky tonight.
My neighbor is the one who introduced me to the full moon = overactive kids theory and after several months of tallying, I am buying it.
On any given day, no matter which phase the moon is in, the girls argue, bicker, fight, and scream...oh yeah, there's a whole lot of screaming/shrieking/hollering/shouting that goes down between the two of them. Of course, we intervene and try and try again to get them to speak their thoughts instead of yelling them. Unfortunately, that often means we end up yelling too, since our normal voices couldn't possibly be heard at that point.
However, right around the time of a full moon, they act...different.
They have honest to goodness fun with each other but it's a silly, excited, and really, really, really LOUD kind of fun.
Honestly, it drives me absolutely crazy... but I really wish they had this complicity every day.
Of course it's easy to say this now that they are both tucked in bed and quiet, but hearing them laugh together is precious. Let this post be a reminder for next month!
